Enterprise Capability Programmes

The Enterprise Capability Qualification and support programme for schools

  • This is the only Enterprise capability qualification nationally which has been given QCA approval
  • It offers schools a Level 1 diploma (equivalent to a G grade at GCSE), a Level 2 diploma (equivalent to a B grade at GCSE) and a Level 3 diploma (AS or above equivalence.)
  • The qualification is about the development of Enterprise Skills, which can be used in all areas of life. It is not about developing Entrepreneurs as such, but offers all students an opportunity to be more effective.
  • The qualification is offered by the NCFE Awarding Body.
  • The Ormiston Education Trust and Ellowes Hall Sports College are developing a support pack in partnership with NCFE, the awarding body, for schools and students to enable them to successfully gain the qualification.
  • The pupils can work through the programme at their own pace, which gives them control. It also enables the programme to operate in the curriculum or in extended school time.
  • The whole programme will be available to students on-line and will include mechanisms which enable them to share ideas with others involved in the programme.
  • The programme will be supported by a 2 day training programme for staff

The benefits of the qualification are clear:

  • It will offer students of all abilities the opportunity to develop these important life skills and to gain accreditation at the same time.
  • It will offer some students an opportunity to gain a GCSE equivalent qualification when other qualifications may be difficult for them to obtain
  • It can be delivered in or outside the curriculum so can fit into any school programme
