The Learning Gateway

Shirelands Language College, is an Ormiston Academy.

• In its role as the National Test Bed for ICT it developed a Learning Gateway based upon the Microsoft Learning Gateway.
• The Gateway provides a fully integrated suite of e.learning strategies for a whole school management of ILT. This includes on line curriculum materials, a family portal to support parental engagement and a full range of on line activities that support learning and facilitates the online interaction of students, teachers, parents and school leadership.
• The curriculum resources can be purchased separately or as part of a package that enables a school to use the Learning Gateway hosted by Shirelands with support, enabling it to host itself and other schools when it feels it has the capability to do so.
• There is a range of on-line resources for primary schools including fully developed Primary Languages programmes and materials that supports the primary/secondary transition in learning with particular focus upon literacy and numeracy.
